Living in Nyon: Hats off to Weddings

La blogueuse Catherine Nelson Pollard nous parle des mariages.

Catherine Nelson Pollard, blogueuse.

It’s late September so although there are a few couples that are currently tying the knot, the main wedding season is coming to an end. To “tie the knot” means to get married. I was on the terrace of the château in Nyon last week and saw a wedding party gathered in the courtyard of the church below. The bride looked lovely.

Weddings are on my mind at the moment as I have received invitations to three weddings in 2019, one in Wales, and two in England. So, the first thought that came to mind when I received them, was, “time to buy a new hat”.

It’s quite a tradition at a British wedding for ladies to wear a hat, (there was a plethora of them at the recent Royal Wedding) whereas, unless I am very much mistaken, hats on the “big day” here in Switzerland aren’t really in vogue....
