I’ve been to quite a lot of press conferences over the years, many of them in this country, plus a few others elsewhere. Whilst most conferences have been very good, others have been deathly dull or just very long winded. There’s often someone who likes the sound of their own voice and they hog the microphone that bit too long.
Some conferences have been held in interesting venues. I’ve been to one on a boat in Rolle; in a cellar in Coppet; in a caravan in a field; a circus tent at Paléo; a church in Nyon and recall one in a primary school where all the journalists had to sit on tiny chairs. However, a press conference I went to last Tuesday night was memorable as it was held on an old vintage tram at Plainpalais in Geneva. Now that’s a first.
