Yikes! There are yurts springing up everywhere in Nyon right now. There’s a yurt by the Roulotte (which has now become a bit of winter tradition); there’s another at the place du Château; another in place St-Martin and a yurt by the la Combe shopping centre. One could be forgiven for thinking one was in Ulaanbaatar not Vaud.
I say that partly in ignorance. I have never been to the capital of Mongolia and don’t know if there are any yurts there at all these days. I suspect you have to travel outside the city to see any, as according to the Lonely Planet Guide the capital is a “sprawling, industrialised city of pulsating commerce, wild traffic, sinful nightlife and bohemian counterculture”. It’s also full of contrasts where “Armani suited business men rub shoulders with mohawked punks and del-clad nomads fresh off the steppes”. Apparently a “del” is a Mongolian...
