Belinda Bencic (WTA 49) s'est qualifiée à son tour pour les seizièmes de finale de l'Open d'Australie. La Saint-Galloise a battu 7-5 4-6 6-2 la Kazakh Yulia Puntintseva (WTA 39) pour affronter samedi la double Championne de Wimbledon Petra Kvitova (no 6).
