A funny graph appeared in my email inbox this week. On the vertical axis of this graph, it showed the number of Nobel Laureates (per 10 million population) that countries around the world have produced. On its horizontal axis, it showed the chocolate consumption per kilo per capita per year. No prizes for guessing which country came top in this chart. It’s Switzerland of course. I have no idea where this graph originated and can’t verify its data, but it’s an interesting link between chocolate and its benefits to the brain and like to think it could be true. There are certainly plenty of articles in the press that say eating chocolate at least once a week helps one’s memory and abstract thinking.
