Living in Nyon: from Nyon to the North

The brand new Léman Express officially rolled onto the tracks last weekend. Despite the slight hiccup of French strikes forcing the train to a halt in Geneva, it sounds like it has been a success. It’s an amazing feat of engineering and Swiss planning. A friend was travelling on the morning train on the Monday after the launch and told me passengers received free cake and juice as part of the celebrations.

Regular readers will know I am a keen rail traveller. So in the interest of cutting back my carbon emissions, I have been trying to plan a journey from Nyon to the North of England a) without flying and b) without having to change trains in Paris. It’s a bit tricky. I calculated it would be a 23 hour journey with 11 changes of trains. So I put the request out on social media to see what others...
