There’s a television programme in Britain called “Gardeners World” which has been broadcast on the BBC for many years. It is very popular. Nearly three million viewers can watch one programme alone. Presented by a softly spoken gardener called Monty Don, it’s a soothing, gentle show. He wanders around his gorgeous garden with a labrador at his heels showing us how to plant this or that. He tells us in dulcet tones what gardening jobs we need to do for the weekend and he makes the art of gardening look very simple and easy. I think he once said that gardening is excellent therapy for both the body and mind.
