Last Saturday’s Arts Day in Nyon was fun, and it’s good to see it getting bigger each year. There was plenty on offer for members of the public. I peeked behind the studio of an artist who uses flora and fauna in her paintings. I also saw some kind of participative artistic dance going on inside the castle (though I didn’t take part!) and then went on to watch graffiti artists at work. Although this last event was interesting, to be honest, I prefer to see “tags” sprayed onto plywood like this (in a garden in the centre of the town), rather than randomly scrawled on walls or on the sides of trains. When I have guests visiting from other countries, they are surprised to see so much graffiti in Switzerland. It doesn’t really go with their image of a clean and pristine country.
