Over the past week a lot of my American friends have been discussing their plans for Thanksgiving. Some of them set off across the pond a few days ago to celebrate the special day with loved ones. A friend from Gland (originally from the West Coast) is currently in Alabama and has sent me lots of messages about her upcoming feast of cornbread, turkey, pumpkin pie and more.

By now she will have had lunch with 34 others on the day itself. I can only assume there was a pretty big table and a lot of turkey too. Seemingly there are approximately 3,000 calories in a Thanksgiving meal so perhaps that’s why the “Turkey Trot” has taken off. This is where lots of people all over the U.S.A go for a run on the day to burn...
