Fernando Santos: "La France est favorite, mais le Portugal doit gagner"

"La France joue chez elle, c'est naturel qu'elle soit favorite. Mais le Portugal doit gagner", a expliqué le sélectionneur portugais Fernando Santos à la veille de la finale de l'Euro 2016. "J'ai toujours dit que le Portugal était candidat au titre, mais qu'à mon avis il y avait trois favoris: le champion d'Europe (l'Espagne), le champion du monde (l'Allemagne) et la France qui joue chez elle", a-t-il déclaré samedi en conférence de presse au Stade de France. "C'est une sélection très forte et ils jouent chez eux, c'est naturel qu'ils soient considérés comme favori. Mais le fait que le favori gagne, c'est autre chose. Je pense que c'est le Portugal qui doit gagner", a ajouté Fernando Santos. Interrogé sur la malédiction du Portugal face à la France, qui l'a battu à chaque fois en compétition officielle, Santos a répondu, impassible: "il n'y a jamais eu de Portugal-France en finale, donc cela ne s'applique pas cette fois".

 

Superstition

Les Bleus cherchent-ils un signe du destin avant la finale? Ils ont en tous cas repris le même chemin que les vainqueurs de 1998 pour atteindre le Stade de France, d'après RMC Sport. Comme 18 ans plus tôt, le bus de l'équipe de France a traversé Saint-Denis par l'Avenue du président Wilson. Ils ont été acclamés par les enfants qui couraient des deux côtés du bus. Ils ont également pu apercevoir les supporters scander leurs noms et leur faire des signes.
